Your Privacy Matters: Momentum is designed with privacy at its core. Your data is stored on your device and optionally synced across your devices using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). We do not operate our own servers, and we cannot read or access your synced data.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Momentum, developed by Orion Column ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS and watchOS application ("the App").
By using Momentum, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information Collection and Storage
2.1 What Data is Created
When you use Momentum, you create:
- Habits: Your custom habit titles, schedules, colors, and descriptions
- Routines: Your routine steps, schedules, and completion records
- Goals: Your goal titles, progress data, and milestones
- Events: Your scheduled events, categories, and reminders
- Daily Briefs: Your daily notes and reflections
- Completion Records: Timestamps of when you complete habits and routines
- App Preferences: Theme settings, notification preferences, and app configuration
2.1.1 Sign in with Apple
Momentum offers optional Sign in with Apple for account authentication. When you sign in, Apple may provide us with:
- Name: Your first and last name (only provided on first sign-in; you may choose to hide it)
- Email: Your email address or an Apple-generated private relay address
- User Identifier: A unique, anonymous identifier tied to your Apple Account
This information is stored locally on your device and synced via iCloud (see Section 2.2). We do not store this information on any servers we operate.
2.2 Where Your Data is Stored
Your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and automatically synced across your devices via Apple's iCloud (CloudKit).

- ✅ iCloud data is stored in your private CloudKit database — only accessible by devices signed into your Apple Account
- ✅ We do not operate servers or databases — syncing is handled entirely by Apple
- ✅ We cannot access your synced data
- ✅ Your data is protected by Apple's iCloud encryption and your device's security (passcode, Face ID, etc.)
iCloud sync requires an active Apple Account with iCloud enabled. If you disable iCloud for Momentum, your data will remain stored locally on your device only.
2.3 What We DON'T Collect
We do not collect, transmit to our own servers, or have access to:
- ❌ Location data
- ❌ Photos or media from your device
- ❌ Contacts or calendar information
- ❌ Usage analytics or tracking data
- ❌ Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- ❌ Any health or fitness data
3. How We Use Information
Since your data is stored on your device and in your private iCloud account, we don't use your information. Your data is used solely by the App on your devices to:
- Display your habits, routines, goals, and events
- Track your completion history and streaks
- Generate progress reports and statistics
- Send local notifications (if you enable them)
- Populate widgets on your home screen and Apple Watch
- Sync your data across your iPhone and Apple Watch via iCloud
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not share your data with anyone. Period.

- ✅ No advertising networks
- ✅ No data brokers
- ✅ No marketing partners
- ✅ No third-party cloud services (only Apple's iCloud)
Apple Services: We use Apple's built-in frameworks and services for:
- iCloud (CloudKit): Syncs your data across your devices using your private iCloud account. Data is stored in Apple's iCloud infrastructure and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
- Sign in with Apple: Optional account authentication (subject to Apple's Privacy Policy)
- Subscriptions: Apple processes payments through the App Store (subject to Apple's Privacy Policy)
- Notifications: Apple's notification system (if you enable notifications)
- Widgets: Apple's WidgetKit for displaying data on your home screen and Apple Watch
These services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
5. Your Rights and Data Control
5.1 Access Your Data
You have complete access to all your data at any time through the App interface.
5.2 Delete Your Data
You can delete your data in several ways:
- Individual items: Delete any habit, routine, goal, or event from within the App
- All data: Go to Settings → Data Management → Delete All Data
- Complete removal: Uninstalling the App removes all local data from your device
- iCloud data: To remove synced data from iCloud, go to your device's Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage → Momentum, or disable iCloud sync for the App
5.3 Data Portability & Export
Momentum provides data export features that allow you to download your personal tracking data in JSON and CSV formats (reference "6. Data Export & User Responsibility.").

Momentum provides data export features that allow you to download your personal tracking data in JSON and CSV formats. This feature is provided for you convenience to enable data backups and portability.
Your Responsibilities
When you use the data export feature, you agree to the following:
- Sharing & Distribution: You are responsible for controlling how exported data is shared or distributed. Do not share exported files with. untrusted parties, as they may contain sensitive personal information.
- Data Security: Once you export data from Momentum, you are solely responsible for the security, storage, and protection of those exported files.

- Unauthorized Access: We are not liable for any unauthorized access to, disclosure of, or use of data that you have exported and subsequently shared or stored insecurely.
- Prohibited Use: You agree not to use exported data to:
- Reverse-engineer the Momentum application
- Create competing products or services
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on our intellectual property rights
- Data Accuracy: While we strive to ensure exported data is accurate and complete, you are responsible for verifying the accuracy of exported data before using it for any critical purpose.
- No Backup Guarantee: The export feature is provided as-is. We do not guarantee that exported files can be successfully re-imported in future versions of Momentum, though we will make reasonable efforts to maintain compatibility.
Our Limitations
- We do not receive, store, or have access to your exported data files.
- We cannot recover data from lost or corrupted export files.
- We are not responsibile for data loss that occurs after export from Momentum.
- Support for exported data is limited to the import functionality within Momentum.
By using the data export feature, you acknowledge that you understand these responsibilities and limitations.
7. Children's Privacy
Momentum is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use this App or provide any information through it.
8. California Privacy Rights (CalOPPA Compliance)
Under California law (CalOPPA), we provide the following information:

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties.
8.3 Do Not Track Signals
We do not track users, so Do Not Track signals do not apply to our App.

You have the right to:
- Know what data exists (view in App)
- Delete your data (via App settings or uninstall)
- Contact us with privacy questions (see contact info below)
9. Subscriptions and Payments
Momentum offers optional subscriptions and purchases:
- Monthly Subscription: $2.99/month (auto-renewing)
- Annual Subscription: $29.99/year (auto-renewing)
Payment Processing:
- All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store
- We do not collect or store payment information
- Payment data is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
- Manage subscriptions in your Apple Account Settings
10. Security
Your data security is ensured by:
- Device Security: Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (encryption, passcode, Face ID/Touch ID)
- iCloud Encryption: Data synced via iCloud is encrypted in transit and at rest using Apple's iCloud security infrastructure
- Private Database: Your CloudKit data is stored in a private database accessible only to devices signed into your Apple Account
- Apple's Framework: We use Apple's secure SwiftData framework for local storage and CloudKit for sync
11. International Users
Momentum is available worldwide. Your local data remains on your device. Data synced via iCloud is subject to Apple's data storage practices:
- Apple may store iCloud data in data centers located in various countries
- iCloud data transfers and storage are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
- We do not independently transfer your data across borders
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be effective when posted. We will notify you of material changes through:
- An in-app notification
- Updating the "Last Updated" date above
Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
13. App Permissions
Momentum may request the following permissions:
- Notifications: To remind you about habits, routines, events, and goals (optional)
- iCloud: To sync your data across your iPhone and Apple Watch (requires iCloud to be enabled for Momentum in your device settings)
- Face ID/Touch ID: For secure app access (if you enable app lock features)
All permissions are optional and can be managed in your device's Settings app.
14. Data Retention
Your data is retained on your device and in your iCloud account until you:
- Manually delete it through the App
- Use the "Delete All Data" feature
- Uninstall the App (removes local data; iCloud data may persist until you remove it from iCloud settings)
- Remove Momentum data from iCloud via your device's iCloud storage settings
We do not have copies of your data on our own servers and cannot recover it once deleted.
16. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
